Hugh Robertson has been MP for Faversham and Mid Kent since 7th June 2001 when he was elected with a majority of 4,183. He was re-elected on 5th May 2005 with a majority of 8,720. Hugh was re-elected on 6th May 2010 with a majority of 17,088 and appointed Minister for Sports & Olympics.

As a Shadow Sports & Olympics Minister, Hugh was always at the dispatch box for Department for Culture, Media & Sports questions and for debates about sport. He took The London Olympic and Paralympic Bill through Parliament for the Conservative Party between July 2005 and March 2006.

He is also a regular contributor in debates about Foreign Affairs, Defence, rural issues and anything concerning Kent.
For instance, Hugh has secured ajournment debates on:
a) The Kent Air Ambulance
b) The actions of the planning Inspectorate as they affect gypsies
c) Fruit Farming
d) Seasonal Agricultural workers scheme
e) The compensation case of Lance Corporal Martyn Compton - a soldier injured whilst serving with the Household Cavalry in Afghanistan.
